In his debut campaign (2024-25), Olise played a pivotal role as Bayern reclaimed the Bundesliga title, contributing 11 goals and 18 assists in 42 appearances across all competitions. He also lifted the German Super Cup, scoring in the 3-1 final win over RB Leipzig. The ongoing 2025-26 season has seen him reach new heights: as of early March, he has registered 13 goals and 25 assists in 36 outings, with his delivery from wide areas and ability to unlock tight defences making him indispensable to the Bavarian giants.
His consistent form earned him the Bundesliga Player of the Month award in April 2025, and he has since become a regular in the England senior squad, making his debut in November 2025 and scoring three goals in six appearances for Gareth Southgate’s side.
Barcelona Eye La Liga Move for Winger
Barcelona is understood to be among a handful of elite clubs keeping close tabs on Olise’s situation, alongside rivals Real Madrid and Premier League heavyweights Liverpool. While sources close to both clubs confirm that no formal negotiations have been initiated, the player’s public comments about his long-term ambitions have not gone unnoticed in Catalonia.
In an interview last month, Olise stated: “Playing in La Liga has always been a dream of mine. The style of football suits me, and the history of the clubs there is incredible. I’m happy at Bayern, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t think about testing myself in Spain one day.”
For Barcelona, Olise represents an ideal fit for their attacking setup. The club is preparing for a transition in the final third, with captain Robert Lewandowski set to depart when his contract expires in June 2026, and Ansu Fati linked with a move away. Olise’s versatility – capable of playing on either wing or in an attacking midfield role – would add depth and quality to Xavi’s squad, while his age aligns with the club’s focus on building a young, sustainable team.
However, Barcelona faces significant hurdles in any potential pursuit. The club’s financial constraints remain a factor, and they would need to structure a deal that fits within La Liga’s salary cap regulations. Competition from other top clubs will also drive up Olise’s valuation, with Bayern believed to have set an initial asking price of around €90 million.
Bayern Determined to Keep Key Man
Bayern Munich has made clear that Olise is not for sale in the upcoming summer window, and views him as a central figure in their long-term plans under Kompany. The Belgian manager has built his tactical system around Olise’s creativity, often deploying him as a right-winger in a 4-3-3 formation that maximises his ability to cut inside and create chances for teammates like Harry Kane and Luis Díaz.
Speaking about Olise’s future last week, Bayern’s sporting director Christoph Freund said: “Michael is one of the best young players in the world, and he is very happy here. We have a long contract with him, and we see him as part of our team for many years to come. We have no intention of discussing his transfer with any club at this stage.”
The club is also reportedly exploring the possibility of extending Olise’s contract beyond 2029, with a view to increasing his wages and adding release clause protections that would deter unwanted interest. Given Olise’s current contentment in Munich and the stability provided by Kompany’s management, insiders suggest a transfer is unlikely to materialise before 2027 at the earliest – if at all.
