3 Packers Likely to Re-Sign ………..

Green Bay Packers

With good reason, the Green Bay Packers are optimistic about the future as they head into the 2024 offseason. In their first season without Aaron Rodgers, the Packers not only qualified for the postseason but also pushed the eventual NFC Champions, the San Francisco 49ers, to the limit on their own field.

And it was following a road victory in the Wild Card round over the Dallas Cowboys. The Packers have every right to think that they can have a significant impact on the NFC this next season, but which players will be on this team?

The Green Bay Packers are at a crossroads with their roster of significant contributors, which includes some starters and previous first-round picks, rather than a long list of dominant players who are about to enter free agency. Which of the following internal free agents may General Manager Brian Gutekunst decide to keep in 2024?

1. CB/KR Keisean Nixon
In a short period of time, Keisean Nixon went from being a Pro Bowl return specialist to the starting slot corner for the Green Bay Packers. Jeff Hafley is the new defensive coordinator in town, but Nixon’s versatility and special teams skills may give him an advantage in the decision of whether or not to retain him.

After playing a career-high 809 defensive snaps, it’s worth considering if he’s still in that same ballpark of value. He signed a one-year deal worth $4 million in Green Bay last offseason.

In order to determine whether or not Jeff Hafley can contribute to the team’s defense rotation once more, the front office, pro scouting department, and new DC will need to collaborate. Nixon is a really valuable player who can play both slot corner and special teams, so I believe the Packers should consider bringing him back as an internal free agent.
