Argentine World Cup winner completes transfer from Atletico Madrid in club-record deal
LONDON – West Ham United have secured a major coup with the signing of Argentina international Julian Alvarez, who has agreed a five-year contract with the club.
The 25-year-old forward will make the move to the London Stadium this summer, with the transfer valued at an initial £65 million plus £10 million in performance-based add-ons – making it the largest deal in West Ham’s history.

Speaking after finalising personal terms, Alvarez expressed his excitement about joining the Hammers:

West Ham manager David Moyes said the arrival of Alvarez marks a key moment in the club’s ambition to compete at the top level:

The transfer is subject to international clearance and a routine medical, with Alvarez set to officially join the club on July 1st. He will be available for pre-season training ahead of the 2026/27 campaign, and will wear the number 9 shirt at the London Stadium.
The deal includes full release clauses for international duty with Argentina, ensuring he can represent his country in all major competitions.
