just now: Who will Green Bay re-sign…….

NFC Wild Card Playoffs - Green Bay Packers v Dallas Cowboys

Greetings and welcome to SB Nation Reacts, an NFL fan survey. We pose questions to the nation’s most engaged Green Bay Packers and sports fans all year long. To take part in the weekly email surveys, register here.

Before free agency officially starts on Monday, when the league’s “legal tampering window” opens, we have two results for you this week. We’re hoping that the next few days will provide some clarification on these issues as we get closer to draft season.

What is the Packers’ plan for their first-round selection?

This split is intriguing. It’s hardly surprising that only 7% of supporters believe the team will select a linebacker in the first round, given that Texas A&M’s Edgerrin Cooper is rated as the top linebacker at 43rd overall on the consensus draft board. With 42 percent of the vote, the offensive line is the most popular position. However, 51 percent of you, or the smallest majority, believe the team should start a defensive back in the first round. Once more, my main query for the 25% of you who chose to vote for a safety is: do you think Iowa CB Cooper DeJean is more of a safety prospect than a cornerback possibility? I seriously doubt the team will use a first-round choice on DeJean if he isn’t deemed a safety. The consensus draft board now has just three safeties ranked inside the top 75: Tyler Nubin of Minnesota (44th), Kamren Kinchens of Miami (51st), and Javon Bullard of Georgia. Kinchens had the worst 40-second time of any safety at the combine, and Nubin did not race. It’s difficult to identify a first-round prospect at the position unless Bullard starts to soar up draft boards.
Who has the best chance of staying with Green Bay?

Just 5% of respondents believe that running back AJ Dillon or safety Darnell Savage will be the most likely to re-sign with the Packers in 2024, which is another intriguing split on this topic. This is probably because of the latest reports that say it’s unlikely for any of the players to rejoin the team.

Here, right guard Jon Runyan Jr. (48%) just beats out cornerback Keisean Nixon (47%) among the remaining contenders. I don’t think the team has to bring back the seasoned guard in a strong offensive line draft class. In this case, Nixon would have won because he is an All-World returner. However, reports have stated that, given the appropriate circumstances, Runyan and the Packers are interested in a reunion.
