After being picked by the Browns, kicker Cade York was released the previous season and is returning to the team.

Despite his past setbacks, kicker Cade York is receiving a second opportunity from the Browns. York was cut by Cleveland following some issues last season; a source familiar with the decision says that York is returning.

York, a 2022 fourth-round draft selection, will be a part of the team throughout the offseason. During training camp, he can face competition from Dustin Hopkins for the kicking spot.

York began his NFL career with a bang, winning a game with a 58-yard field goal in 2022. Still, he was cut go last summer following a subpar preseason campaign. Hopkins was later acquired by the Browns via trade, and he had a strong season overall.

Hopkins had a stellar record, missing just eight attempts over 50 yards and 33 of 36 field goals. However, a hamstring ailment kept him out of the playoffs.

Drafted out of LSU, York had a strong first season, converting 24 out of 32 field goals and 35 out of 37 extra points. However, his struggles throughout last year’s preseason forced the Browns to release him.

York did not participate in any regular-season games after leaving Cleveland; instead, he spent time with the New York Giants and on Tennessee’s practice squad.
