NFL Free Agency 2024: The finest available options
It may surprise you to learn that over 300 NFL free agents are still without a contract. The top candidates for each post are listed here.
Ryan Tannehill, quarterback
Tannehill played in the Pro Bowl and finished his 11-year career with 34,881 yards and 216 touchdowns. In addition, he amassed 2,103 yards on the ground and 27 rushing touchdowns. He would be a great asset for organizations trying to nurture a young quarterback despite his advanced age of 35.
Dobbins has missed 43 of the 67 regular season games he could have played in with the Ravens due to injury. His 5.8 yards per carry average might be difficult for a team in need of a running back to ignore if he ever gets healthy.
WR: Tyler Boyd
Boyd is a large, reliable receiver with blocking ability, but in 2023 he only managed two touchdowns and a career-low 10 yards per reception. Even though quarterback Joe Burrow missed seven games due to injury, he managed to record at least 50 catches and over 600 yards for the sixth consecutive season.
TE | Logan Thomas
When Thomas first joined the Commanders in 2020, he had 72 receptions for 670 yards and six touchdowns. However, over the following three years, he battled to attain 1,015 yards and eight scores. With improved weaponry surrounding him, Thomas should do well if healthy. The previous season was the greatest of the lot.
OL | Mekhi Becton
The 363-pound, 6-foot-7 offensive tackle was selected 11th overall in the 2020 NFL Draft, but he had a sluggish start to the season. Becton played well for the Jets in 2023 and should only get better with more reps after missing all but one game of 2021 and the entire 2022 season due to injury.
DL | Clowney Jadeveon
The 31-year-old, who left the Texans in 2019, has essentially been a hired gun for the position of pass rusher. He has since amassed 23.5 sacks for four different clubs. With 9.5 sacks for Baltimore last season, he tied a career high, and with 43 tackles, it was his best since 2018.
Zach Cunningham, LB
The seven-year veteran led the league in tackles (106 solo) in 2020 and finished the previous season with 85 tackles and four passes defensed for the awful Eagles defense.
Xavien Howard | CB
Though many clubs may benefit from a guy with Howard’s expertise, the four-time Pro Bowler may have his sights set on the Texans. The seasoned player let up a solitary touchdown and a career-high 10.7 yards per completion in 2023.
S | Justin Marks
Although Simmons will be thirty-one years old next season, he just finished his second Pro Bowl campaign in 2022, when he led the league with six interceptions. His stats should only go better if he gets away from the 29th-ranked defense in the NFL.
