49ers use a former Rams defensive lineman to their advantage once more in their irksome comp pick lottery.

 

 

NFC West rivals the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams are the two clubs receiving the greatest allocation of the 2024 compensatory choices. This year, they will each have third-round compensatory picks; in 2024, the Rams will have five comp picks.

The Rams got one compensatory pick in 2023—a fifth round pick—out of four total picks as a result of the Chargers’ “loss” of Sebastian Joseph-Day. With the last choice of the fifth round, L.A. selected Puka Nacua using that pick. However, Joseph-Day was cut in December before finishing his second season with the Chargers, which allowed the San Francisco 49ers to sign him.

Because Raheem Morris was hired by the Falcons, the Rams will only receive a third-round equivalent pick in 2025. They are not anticipated to receive any more. But at least Puka Nacua is with the Rams.
