Red Sox trade addition Garrett Cooper exits game after being hit in wrist
BOSTON — Giants reliever Sean Hjelle hit new first baseman Garrett Cooper in the right wrist with a fastball that clocked in at 94.8 mph on Tuesday, causing the Red Sox to withdraw him from the game. Boston declared that he was taken out due to a bruise on his right wrist. In his place, Bobby Dalbec pinch ran and continued to play first base.
Manager Alex Cora stated, “He’s doing OK,” following Boston’s 4-0 victory over San Francisco. Simply sore. Tomorrow, we’ll check in to see where he is. There, we escaped a gunshot.
