Team from Orange Volunteer Fire Dept. raises more than $3000 for American Lung Association. A team of Orange, CT, volunteer firefighters dashed up 34 floors recently and, although they were wearing full structural firefighting gear, there was no fire at the top of the stairs.
Earlier this month, members of the Orange Volunteer Fire Department helped raise thousands for the American Lung Association.
On April 6, a team of eight participated in the Fight for Air fundraiser in Hartford.
The goal of the nationwide event is to support people with lung disease, raise awareness and money to support the association’s work in research, education and advocacy.
Firefighters ran up 34 floors in one of the state’s tallest building, the Hartford 21, while wearing full firefighter gear, which weighs 75 pounds.
All eight completed the run and took nearly 700 steps.
The team raised more than $3,000 dollars.
