With starting quarterback Daniel Jones and backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor both sidelined by injuries this season, the Giants did not have much luck at quarterback.

Furthermore, after Jones sustained his ACL injury that ended the season, the Giants attempted to use a well-known player, according to Broncos head coach Sean Payton. Speaking with Daniel Jones and Eli Manning on Friday’s “Up Adams Show,” Payton claimed that Davis Webb, who is currently Denver’s quarterbacks coach, was contacted by the Giants.

“Davis received a call after you got hurt this year asking if you could return to play,” stated Payton. “And I’m like, ‘You took this job, Davis.'” You are a coach. In addition, there is a rule in our league that prohibits you from playing if you sign a one-year coaching deal.

“Anyway, I had assumed the Giants would be our new quarterback coach.”

Whether Payton was making a joke or not is unknown.

In the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft, the Giants selected Webb. Before joining the Giants again in 2022, he played for the Jets in 2018 and the Bills for a while. Because the Giants had already clinched the No. 6 spot in the NFC East, he started his first regular season game in the NFL against the Eagles that year.

He was appointed head coach of the Broncos quarterbacks in February.

After a run of losing seasons and contentious contract discussions the previous season, Barkley stressed that the Giants hold a special place in his heart when asked why he still wants to stay with the team. One of his main objectives since being drafted has been to return to New York with a Super Bowl Championship, and he is committed to seeing that through to the end.

He also mentioned his wish to continue being a “Giant for life,” a wish he has made clear throughout his

He did, however, admit the business aspect of football and the possibility that his season in New York last year was his last. Barkley is prepared to compete at a high level wherever he goes because he thinks he has a lot left in the tank.

Barkley declared, “They’re gonna get a leader if I’m not a New York Giant next year and I’m somewhere else.” They will receive a diligent worker. To win football games, they’re going to get a competitor and someone who is going to compete at a high level.

Where might Barkley play in the upcoming season?
Barkley is scheduled to enter free agency, therefore the G-Men will be able to match any offers he receives. However

It’s unclear if they will be open to doing that.

Barkley might end up with the Los Angeles Chargers, as head coach Jim Harbaugh, who was just hired, has shown interest in the running back.
Nevertheless, Over the Cap estimates that the Chargers are currently $45.81 million over the cap and $55.39 million over after accounting for the space required to sign their draft class and achieve the minimum of 51 rostered players. The Chargers might find it challenging to give Barkley a sizable salary because of this.

With the third-most salary cap room in the NFL, the Houston Texans could be a dark horse in the Barkley sweepstakes. With roughly $57 million to work with, the Texans will be able to participate in the free-agent market this season, according to Over the Cap.

Whether the Texans will go for Barkley is unclear because they have a number of important players who could be available to them and they may try to get them back. But Houston might have the financial wherewithal and Super Bowl-caliber squad to entice Barkley away from the Giants, especially with a young, hungry club that appears to have everything needed to win right away.
