5-star Gators commit is being visited by the new Florida defensive backs coach.
According to a tip from Blake Alderman of Swamp247, Florida’s new secondary coach, Will Harris, will visit five-star safety commit Xavier Filsaime in person during his first recruiting visit in McKinney, Texas.
Following the official announcement of Harris’ hiring on Monday, the two are scheduled to meet on Wednesday. With the departure of previous secondary coach Corey Raymond, Filsaime, the top-ranked defensive recruit committed to Florida, has been under close observation in the run-up to the early signing period.
To maintain the team’s recruiting strategy, defensive coordinator Austin Armstrong paid him an in-home visit; but, seeing Harris, who will be his future position coach, will be a significant step. If the two are not compatible, the flip rumors may become even more loud.
Texas and Oregon are now making the most effort to get Florida to commit. Time is running short for all three parties to pitch, though, as the early signing period begins in just one week.
Filsaime is a five-star prospect who 247Sports ranks No. 31 in the class of 2024. In addition, he ranks eighth among Texas players and is the class’s second-best safety.
Important Florida football signing announcement from a five-star quarterback
Billy Napier recently had a major opening. The Gators are searching for a new quarterback as Max Brown is leaving the Florida football program. Being the offensive catalyst for a squad that managed only five victories the previous campaign may seem like a difficult task. DJ Lagway, though, seems willing to take on the challenge.
The quarterback for the football team at Florida will be replaced. According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, he goes by the moniker DJ Lagway and is a five-star recruit.
What does this deal mean for Billy Napier and the Florida football team? He just broke a touchdown pass record in Texas Class 6A that has stood for over 60 years. This resulted in just eight interceptions and 59 touchdown throws. In addition, as the team’s attacking motor, his accuracy has been phenomenal. He achieved 289 completions out of 393 passing attempts with this.
