Done deal! Ethan Nwaneri has officially signed on loan with Ligue 1 club Marseille for the remainder of the 2025-2026 season.

The 18-year-old arrived in Marseille on January 21, 2026, and was spotted wearing the club’s scarf ahead of the official announcement. The deal includes a significant loan fee that could reach around €4 million depending on his playing time, with no option to buy. Marseille will cover his full salary, and there is a clause penalizing the club if he does not get enough game time.

Nwaneri, who signed a new five-year contract with Arsenal last August, has had limited first-team opportunities this season, making 12 appearances with just four starts and playing 515 minutes in total. He revealed that William Saliba, who had a successful loan spell at Marseille in 2021-2022, advised him to make the move, and he also spoke highly of Marseille and its manager Roberto de Zerbi. He could make his debut against RC Lens on January 25 at the Stade Vélodrome.
