The Iowa Hawkeyes are unbeatable. The ‘way-too-early’ top 25 rankings for 2024 from USA TODAY Sports
In college football, as they say, there is no offseason. Playing the games is followed by recruiting, spring ball, more recruiting, and then returning to the season.
For everyone, the same holds true. Many eyes are already turning to the 2023 college football season, which is officially over after the Michigan Wolverines won the championship.
Paul Myerberg of USA TODAY Sports is one set of those eyes. The Iowa Hawkeyes have made it into his far too early top 25 for the 2024 college football season. In Myerberg’s very early rankings, Iowa is now at No. 24.
Myerberg’s assessment of the Hawkeyes is accurate. The largest unanswered issue in the room is still who Kirk Ferentz will bring in to improve the infamously bad Iowa offense.
All that has been revealed to us are the rumors and names that have leaked. Nobody in Iowa City is willing to reveal who will take over as the next offensive coordinator.
With five starters this season, including safety Quinn Schulte, linebacker Nick Jackson, CASH Sebastian Castro, cornerback Jermari Harris, and linebacker Jay Higgins, Iowa is returning a ton of performance on defense.
All questions and success hinge on the offense, as it has for the Hawkeyes the past few years. If Iowa makes even a small improvement, the polls will make them a scary team.
