Report: Ohio State wide receivers visiting Florida for a transfer

Is Julian Fleming to Penn State an imminent move as Ohio State WR gets mired in transfer portal rumors?

Report: Wide receivers from Ohio State are in Florida to consider transfers

Bryson Rodgers, a wide receiver transfer from Ohio State, will visit Florida on Friday, per Blake Alderman of 247Sports.

Rodgers, a 2023 recruit that the Gators had previously targeted, spent one season with the Buckeyes, playing in two games. On January 2, he formally registered on the NCAA transfer portal.

“Buckeye Nation, I sincerely appreciate all of the love and support y’all have provided as it was truly a dream come true to put on the scarlet and grey and represent Buckeye Nation,” Rodgers, an Ohio native, posted on social media on Dec. 31, 2023. “With that being said, I will be entering my name in the transfer portal to seize a better opportunity.”

The 6-foot-2, 185-pound Rodgers was a three-season varsity standout at Wesley Chapel (Fla.) Wiregrass Ranch, nearly two hours south of UF. Over 26 varsity games, he recorded 110 receptions for 1,625 yards and 29 touchdowns. Defensively, he recorded two interceptions.

The 247Sports composite rankings graded Rodgers as the No. 49 wide receiver and No. 357 overall prospect for the 2023 cycle, making him a unanimous four-star talent. As a high school recruit, he made three trips to Florida to explore his alternatives for a college education.

Rodgers is regarded by 247Sports as the No. 208 player overall and the No. 39 wide receiver to enter the transfer portal this offseason.

Wide receiver Chimere Dike committed to Florida in December after standout Gators pass-catcher Ricky Pearsall declared for the NFL Draft after using up all of his NCAA eligibility.

UF still has to fill this position, though, since veteran wide outs Thai Chiaokhiao-Bowman, a special team member and depth player, and Caleb Douglas, a former starter, left the transfer portal this summer. Since then, Douglas moved to Texas Tech.Florida

In 2024, Florida expects to have six scholarship players return to the wide receiver position with 119 receptions, 1,298 yards, and 10 touchdowns. Eugene Wilson III, a rising sophomore, is responsible for over half of those receptions (61) and scores (six).

Jerrae Hawkins Jr. and Tawaski Abrams, two wideouts from the class of 2024 who the Gators signed, gave the squad a total of nine scholarship receivers going into the offseason.
