REPORT: Florida is anticipated to host Auburn’s wide receiver target. On Saturday
After visiting Auburn, one of Auburn’s top targets as wide receiver will go to Florida.
Gators Online reports that Florida will host wide receiver CJ Daniels, a transfer from Liberty.
Daniels spent Friday in Auburn, and the visit appeared to go well.
After his visit, Daniels told reporters, “Auburn was definitely my first visit and I’m definitely interested.”
“Coach Freeze said he wouldn’t contact me if he didn’t need me,” Daniels claimed to Auburn Live.com. I can enter and have an impact, he added.
Help is needed at wide receiver for Auburn. Even with Cam Coleman, Perry Thompson, Robert Lewis, a transfer from Georgia State, and other gifted true freshman, Auburn still lacks depth at wide receiver. Sam Jackson V was added by the Tigers to the wide receiver position from Cal.
Daniels caught 55 passes for 1,067 yards and 10 touchdowns by the end of the 2023 campaign. Daniels had 887 yards and 11 touchdowns before his breakout season, the most of which came in 2021 (629 yards, seven touchdowns).
Last season, Daniels played 665 snaps for Liberty. Of these, 448 were lined up wide and 205 were as slot receiver. The Tigers require depth at both positions. Daniels would bring a great deal to the space.
Auburn has ten wide receivers on scholarship, including the four incoming true freshmen.
