Will McClay’s Important Choice to Remain: Fantastic for the Cowboys of Dallas! Head Coach Mike McCarthy
FRISCO – On Friday morning, Dallas Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy received official confirmation of something he was undoubtedly aware of, particularly given that Will McClay’s choice to decline offers to become general manager of another NFL team has been a yearly occurrence.
“He’s very important to our operation, without a doubt,” McCarthy stated during a media visit as the Cowboys prepared for the Green Bay Packers’ playoff visit on Sunday. McClay has “consistently” produced good work in both player evaluation and acquisition as well as the NFL Draft. It doesn’t seem to be getting through to those outside the building who are still demanding that McClay be given a title (owner Jerry Jones is the one with “GM” printed on his business card). Media sites such as ESPN, which stated a few days ago that “some people say McClay might leave Dallas,” fall under this category.
The Cowboys have assembled a Super Bowl-caliber team. They’ve also produced a collection of front-office executives, including McClay and McCarthy, worthy of a Super Bowl. (And yeah, many critics don’t grasp or appreciate that about the coach here, either.
McCarthy stated: “I know how much work Will puts into this, so I’m extremely delighted for him personally. Of course, though, this is fantastic for the Dallas Cowboys.
