Packers give woman ‘heart attack,’ niece reports in 911 call
heart attack reported during the Green Bay Packers’ 24-21 loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Saturday night was a figure of speech rather than a cardiac event, authorities reported after they were called to a Far East Side home Saturday night.
Madison Fire Department personnel were sent to a home on Basil Court about 10:15 p.m. after a “very concerned” person calling 911 from Missouri asked for emergency services on behalf of her aunt, a Madison resident who she believed was having a heart attack, fire department spokesperson Cynthia Schuster said in a statement.
When fire personnel arrived, the aunt came out of her front door smiling, shaking her head, waving her hands and apologizing to the EMTs and paramedics. The woman said she had been watching the Packers and texting with her niece in Missouri. During the tense late minutes of the game she had texted, “I’m having a heart attack!” Schuster said.
The message was intended figuratively, but the woman’s niece took it literally, Schuster said.
