Florida football offers 5-star LB Jonah Williams out of Texas
The Gators are hoping to quickly get in the mix for one of the country’s top defenders
Florida football is starting to compile names on their 2025 recruiting board that they want to lock in on and bring to Gainesville.
Billy Napier and his staff have recently been extending loads of offers to some of the top players on both sides of the ball in 2025.
One of those players, Jonah Williams, is one of the best players coming out of Texas, and a 5-star talent on the defensive side of the ball.
Getting reps at both linebacker and safety, Williams is one of the most dynamic defenders in 2025 with a very high ceiling.
Florida football: Jack of all trades
Williams’ stat line from the 2023 season almost looks like it’s the culmination of three or four guys, not just the production of one player.
He totaled 54 tackles and 4 TFLs, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery which he brought back for a touchdown.
He also broke up eight passes, had four interceptions, which included three pick-sixes, and had a pair of both punt return touchdowns and kick return touchdowns.
His sophomore season in 2022 was just as impressive when he earned MVP honors on a Galveston team that went undefeated.
Given all his production, it’s no surprise he’s rated so highly across the industry. On3’s Industry Ranking has Jonah rated as the 13th-best player in the country, the No. 2 linebacker, and the No. 3 player coming out of Texas. He’s rated as high as the No. 8 overall player on Rivals.
Texas, Oklahoma, and Ohio State are the three schools currently on top of Jonah’s recruitment, so the Gators have a lot of ground to make up if they want to be one of his finalists.
We can expect Napier and his staff to go all out in pursuit of Williams as his recruitment continues.
