Miami LB pledge Elijah Melendez continues to monitor Florida
Just a few days remain before February’s National Signing Day, when college coaches will formally flip the page to the class of 2025. With three verbal commitments to date, the Florida Gators have already begun to assemble their class for that cycle. The Gators will host a number of prestigious figures this weekend who are in the class of 2025 and beyond, continuing a trend that began three weeks ago.
The Gators welcomed four-star linebacker Elijah Melendez from Kissimmee, Florida, on January 13. Melendez had committed early to the Miami Hurricanes. After spending time with Florida’s staff, particularly new linebacker coach Ron Roberts, Melendez had nothing but good things to say about the Orange and Blue.
After that January visit, he stated of his time with Roberts, “It was extremely pleasant to get around him.” “His employment has truly thrilled me. The fact that Florida is still actively seeking me out greatly helps. Roberts is an excellent coach who possesses a wealth of knowledge. I am the top guy on their MIKE board, and they have made that very clear to me. Since Coach Roberts was at Auburn, I did in fact already know him. Thus, it wasn’t a first encounter or anything.”
