Miami Hurricanes add offensive lineman commitment in 2025 class

2024 8:29 PM The Miami Hurricanes — who have improved their offensive line as much as any position during Mario Cristobal’s tenure — on Friday picked up a non-binding commitment from Class of 2025 prospect Lamar Williams, a 6-7, 280-pound offensive tackle in the Florida Panhandle. Williams chose UM over offers from FSU, West Virginia, Maryland, Mississippi State and others. On3.com rates Williams a three-star prospect, while 247 Sports doesn’t have him rated. But recent interest from Power 5 schools suggests his recruiting service ratings will rise. Williams attends Gadsden County High in Havana, which is 16 miles from Tallahassee. Williams opted for the Canes over the Seminoles and others after visiting UM’s campus last weekend and meeting with Canes coach at his school earlier this week. Williams is UM’s fourth 2025 commitment, joining four-star Palm Beach Central wide receiver Waden Charles, three-star Georgia-based quarterback Luke Nickel and three-star Kissimmee-based linebacker Elijah Menendez. So far, 247 Sports rates UM’s 2025 class 19th nationally. 247 Sports ranked UM’s 2024 class third in the country, behind only Georgia and Alabama. Adds Fourth Commitment for 2025: Miami

The Hurricanes have added yet another important player.

Miami makes another splash in the recruiting trail.

Mario Cristobal and his coaching staff are starting to make waves with the class of 2025 following another recruiting class that ranked in the top 10. Cristobal’s preferred position group, the Canes are in their fourth committment today.

Lamar Williams, an offensive lineman from the greater Tallahassee region, has joined the Miami team. East of Tallahassee, at Gadsden County High School, he plays football. It’s among the top programs in the Panhandle of Florida.

Miami, Florida State, Maryland, Marshall, Georgia Tech, Troy, and West Virginia are just a few of the schools that Williams has offers from. It’s intriguing to see Williams’ recruitment rankings.

Rivals ranks him as the #18 offensive tackle. Williams’ profile page has not yet been ranked by 247, in contrast. He is rated as a 3-star offensive tackle by On3. There is one thing that is undeniable, regardless of where one places the Florida prep recruit.

Williams has the build to develop into a fantastic player in the future. Despite weighing 280 pounds, he has unquestionably long arms, a slender upper torso, and a well-balanced frame that would easily accommodate an additional 30 pounds.

Lamar Williams, the newest Miami football 2025 commit, adds even more huge bulk.

The newest prospect to commit to the Miami football program is Lamar Williams, a 6’7, 280-pound offensive tackle who adds even more massive bulk up front.

Lamar Williams, a 6’7, 280-pound offensive lineman, is the newest addition to the Hurricanes football program. He made his commitment to the Miami football program on Friday night. Williams is rated as a four-star prospect by Rivals and a three-star prospect by On3. Under Mario Cristobal, Miami has made a point of growing on the offensive line.

In the 2024 class, Miami signed offensive tackles Juan Minaya, who is 6’6 and 335 pounds, and Markel Bell, who is 6’8.5 and 340 pounds, a junior college recruit. Miami’s 2024 roster features seven OL returners that weigh more over 300 pounds and are at least 6’6″. OL coach Alex Mirabal and Cristobal are bringing OL to Miami.

The fourth Miami commit for 2025 is Williams. Three-star prospects Elijah Melendez, a linebacker, quarterback Luke Nickel, and four-star wide receiver Waden Charles had previously committed to Miami. Williams preps now in Havana, Florida, in Gadsen County, which is close to Tallahassee.

According to On3, Williams is the 32nd overall, the 59th recruit in Florida, and the 432nd-ranked prospect in the US for the 2025 class. Williams is ranked as Florida’s 51st top prospect and the 18th best offensive tackle for 2025 by Rivals. Williams does not currently have a 247Sports ranking.

As a long-term goal, Williams gives the Miami offensive line more depth. In 2025, Williams will likely redshirt as a true freshman. Restore Only Luis Cristobal and injured former starting left tackle Zion Nelson are eligible to play as seniors in 2024 among the offensive linemen currently on the Miami roster.

After the 2024 season, Miami’s starting left tackle, Jalen Rivers, is expected to enter the NFL Draft. The transfer portal may cost Miami additional offensive linemen. Adding more size and depth to the roster complements the ethos that Miami and Cristobal are trying to establish up front.

Williams anticipates Miami receiving one bookend overtime in the end. Samson Okunlola and Francis Mauigoa are committed to Miami through at least the 2025 campaign. Williams offers an excellent developmental talent who should be prepared to compete at tackle in the NFL once Mauigoa and Okunlola leave.
