Green Bay Packers: Jordan Love Explains What the Offense’s Turning Point Was in the 2023 Season
An era came to an end when the Green Bay Packers decided to trade Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets. Before the 2023 NFL season, Green Bay had a quarterback worthy of the Hall of Fame at center for thirty years. Many predicted that the offense would falter and the Packers would be poorer in 2023 than they were in 2022 after the decision to move on to Jordan Love.
And for a while, it appeared that those who had doubts were correct. Love found it difficult to establish a rhythm with his inexperienced combination of tight ends and wide receivers as the Packers started 2–5. Many people pondered whether Green Bay will select a new quarterback in the 2024 NFL Draft. Sean Clifford, a rookie selected in the sixth round, was even advocated to take the helm by some.
Then, though, something made sense. In their last ten games, Green Bay went 7-3, and Love reached heights that many had doubted he would. He had performed better than either Aaron Rodgers or Brett Favre in his debut season as the starting quarterback by the end of the season.

When considering the season in retrospect, it is challenging to determine precisely when and what connected offensively to enable them save the season. Some people believe that Love and the Packers became a formidable team in the Thanksgiving victory over the Detroit Lions. Love, however, feels that the season’s turning point was actually a different game—one that they lost.
Green Bay Packers Quarterback Jordan Love Points to the Loss vs the Pittsburgh Steelers’ as the Team’s Turning Point
Ahead of Super Bowl LVIII, Love and a number of other Packers players were present at media row in Las Vegas. Love had a conversation with Kay Adams, the host of the well-liked program Up and Adams, as part of his endorsement agreement with Old Spice. She questioned him about if he thought his season changed on Thanksgiving when the team defeated the Lions. Love replied as follows:
Indeed, I believe that in the latter part of the season, particularly following the Steelers game, we had a run of a few losses until we managed to secure that one victory, which launched us on a winning streak.
More than anything, though, I believe that we simply clicked as a unit, our chemistry improved, and we overcame some hardship to emerge stronger on the other side.
One week prior to the Pittsburgh setback, Green Bay had defeated the struggling Los Angeles Rams at home. It was the Packers’ fifth defeat in their previous six games, though. The Packers’ season record slipped to 3-6 after the loss, and they were in serious danger of folding.
Jordan Love Did Not Play His Best Game Against the Pittsburgh Steelers
Love only completed 21 of 40 throws for 289 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions in the Pittsburgh loss. In the closing minutes of the game, Green Bay had two possessions of the ball and had the opportunity to march down the field and take the lead. Love did, however, throw two interceptions to prevent them from scoring.
But Love and the Packers would remember the lesson; it was undoubtedly a teaching moment. After the defeat, Green Bay won three straight and finished the season with a 6-2 record.
Love must still be thinking about his interception in the NFC Divisional Round against the San Francisco 49ers, of course. It is safe to presume that he is eager to return.
