One recruit is gone for the Hurricanes.
The Miami Hurricanes will be losing a gifted defensive back prospect in 2026.
The timing of this announcement is not coincidental; earlier today, it was revealed that the Hurricanes also lost secondary coach Jahmile Addae to the NFL’s Buffalo Bills. Many UM players hold Addae in high regard as a coach, and he has been cultivating relationships with a number of elite recruits.
Ksani Jiles, a 2026 Bradenton, Florida, IMG Academy cornerback, is one of the recruits.
The gifted newcomer announced on his X account that he has broken his commitment to the Hurricanes. This is a crucial passage from Jiles’s statement:
“I have a lot of love for (the) University of Miami and coaching staff but after talking to my family I have decided to open up my recruitment.”
Numerous universities have extended offers to Jiles, including the Hurricanes, Texas A&M LSU, Ole Miss, Florida, Washington, Utah, Southern California, Colorado, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Michigan State.
Two players from Miami have committed for the 2026 class thus far.
College football player taken to hospital after medical emergency
Furman University defensive lineman Bryce Stanfield was transported to the hospital following a medical incident during a workout this week; the school revealed that Stanfield is suddenly fighting for his life. Stanfield, who was working out when the tragedy occurred on Wednesday, was taken to the hospital and is now on life support. Furman football coach Clay Hendrix released a statement saying, “The entire football program and university community’s thoughts and prayers are with Bryce and his family at this difficult time.”
Furman’s football squad, which went 10-3 last season and had a 7-1 run in the Southern Conference, features junior defensive tackle Stanfield. During the fall season, he participated in all 13 Paladins games and recorded 13 total tackles, four tackles for loss, and 2.5 sacks. For the first time since sharing the title in the 2018 season, Furman University emerged victorious in the Southern Conference football championship. In terms of scoring defense—allowing 18.2 points per game—run defense, sack totals, and overall defensive performance, Furman dominated the Southern Conference.
Texas Finishes National Signing Day Strong
Texas’ class of 2024 recruits fell short of expectations, finishing ou ingo, and edge Colin Simmons.
Five-star WR commit from Texas Ryan Wingo In December, head coach Steve Sarkisian made a noteworthy acquisition when he acquired Filsaime from Florida, giving a position that was severely lacking depth. Furthermore, the Longhorns signed two outstanding pass rushers from the Top247, namely Zina Umeozulu of Allen and Colin Simmons of Duncanville.
“I hope those guys on the edge contribute in a way that allows us to use our pass rush off the edge with much more impact,” Sarkisian stated. With three Top247 defensive backs from the 2024 class in the secondary, the defense will be strengthened by these additions. After a relatively low-key National Signing Day in Austin, attention is now focused on the potential effects of these new additions to the squad. Expectations are high because of the Longhorns’ reputation for drawing elite players.
It’s noteworthy that Texas is ranked among the top programs in the 2024 cycle with nine recruits in the final Top247 rankings, behind only seven other programs.
These new participants are a source of excitement and intrigue as Sarkisian completes his third full-cycle haul. In fact, many of them—including Filsaime and Simmons—could see early extension playing time because of how much so.
Cam Ward And Other New Miami Hurricanes Players Sign NIL Deals
New players on the Miami roster are signing deals with the Canes Connection Collective.
Cam Ward, the starting quarterback for the Miami Hurricanes, has formally signed a new NIL contract.
Following his 3,735 yards of passing and 25 touchdowns to 7 interceptions during the previous season at Washington State, Ward was ranked as one of the best quarterbacks in the Transfer Portal. The Hurricanes football team in 2024 has higher expectations thanks to his presence at Miami. Based on expected win totals, Miami, Florida State, and Clemson are regarded as co-favorites in the ACC.
This week, Canes Connection—Miami’s official NIL collective—announced that Ward had finalized his contract. Although Ward’s real NIL earnings are unknown to the public, On3 Sports has valued Ward’s NIL at an estimated $934,000.
Additional Miami newcomers, suc
h as transfer center Zach Carpenter, transfer edge rusher Elijah Alston, rookie quarterback Judd Anderson, rookie offensive lineman Deryc Plazz, rookie defensive lineman Armondo Blount, rookie edge rusher Marquise Lightfoot, and a few more, were also announced by the collective.
Through Canes Connection, Miami supporters of the Hurricanes’ student athletes can make donations that unlock special member advantages and privileges. The first tier is $25 a month. Since the collective’s founding in 2022, momentum has been slowly building.
