Miami Hurricanes secondary coach Jahmile Addae leaving Canes for NFL’s Buffalo Bills
Jahmile Addae, the secondary coach at the University of Miami, lost junior safeties Kam Kinchens and James Williams, two of UM’s best defensive backs, to the NFL Draft.
Addae is now on his way to the NFL as well.
Addae, who coached defensive backs for the national champion Georgia Bulldogs in 2021, is leaving the Hurricanes to coach cornerbacks for the Buffalo Bills, the Miami Herald verified through a source.
Last season, Addae worked with DJ Ivey and Tyrique Stevenson, two cornerbacks for UM. They were both drafted.Addae is the second employee to leave on Wednesday. Alonzo Highsmith, the general manager of football operations at UM, departed the Hurricanes earlier in the day to accept an executive position with the New England Patriots, according to a source.
Addae, who joined UM in February 2022, is well-known for being a formidable recruiter. According to 247Sports, she is the country’s second-best recruiter for the Class of 2022. With Alabama hiring former UM DB coach Travaris Robinson, he took over.

The Hurricanes finished the previous season ranked 36th in passes intercepted (12), 55th in passing yards allowed (216 per game), and 24th in total defense (321.6 yards allowed per game).
The second UM coach to resign for other positions is Addae. USF running backs coach Matt Merritt will take over for Tim Harris Jr., the former running backs coach who left for UCF.
