The impact that a single year may have is astounding. The future of the Packers raised a lot of concerns in Green Bay a year and a half ago. There were many unanswered issues going into the previous offseason, ranging from Aaron Rodgers’ desire to go on to their lack of clarity over Jordan Love. After a year, Green Bay appears and feels like a completely different team.
Love was the young player on the bench supporting a potential Hall of Famer at this time last year. He wasn’t even certain that Green Bay was ready for primetime. Love is now without a doubt the team’s starting quarterback and its future as he enters his first offseason. Love and the Packers’ stock are up significantly from the previous spring and should keep rising. Green Bay typically drafts well, so you would anticipate that pattern to hold. Many anticipated that the Packers would have a disappointing season as Love took some time to adjust to his new role as quarterback. Love’s first few weeks were a little rough, but when he settled in, by the middle of the season, they were racing.

Of course, the Packers would have had Love, who has already shown to be a far more capable quarterback than Zach Wilson, if Rodgers had stayed for a second season and the same scenario had occurred. However, it would have been extremely difficult to find a trade partner for a quarterback in his 40s who had just missed the entire season due to an Achilles injury.
Consequently, by granting Rodgers one final desire when they did, the Packers truly avoided a bullet. With a youthful squad led by a 25-year-old quarterback who has a ton of potential, Green Bay should be competitive in the NFC playoffs for many years to come. Wisconsin was concerned about their appearance at this time last year since Rodgers wasn’t taking snaps. Now that they’ve found their man, the cheeseheads are sure they can contend for a Super Bowl the following season.
