The racing season begins with the Bahrain Grand Prix, which takes place at the same Middle Eastern track immediately following pre-season testing. Three-time world champion driver Max Verstappen has stated he is happy with his new vehicle.
Verstappen revealed: “We decided today not to concentrate just on lap time. We concentrated on that program because, to be honest, I think everything looked very good. I think it was more necessary to just do the long run and then gain a little more understanding of the car.”
“[I’m] quite happy with the car, how it was behaving,” he continued. “But as we get closer to race weekend, it will be important to fine-tune the balance around the circumstances that you face.” I only observe what is being done here.”
He additionally stated: “I think there’s of course always a lot of work to do you always want to do better, but I think we had a very positive test and we learned a lot from every single thing that we changed on the car, and we also know what we want to do for next week, and that’s what we’ll focus on.”
He also expressed total confidence in his staff, saying, “To be honest, I don’t care how the car is designed as long as it’s faster. I trust everyone in the team to know what they are doing. Naturally, every time they come up with anything new, it’s very interesting and looks good.
“I’m not an engineer for the remainder. They are here to build and prepare the car, and I’m here to do my work in the car. I believe that thus far, all of our expectations have come true, and while there is always some uncertainty when things become serious, I must admit that this has been one of our stronger points over the past few years.
