D’Angelo Russell, the Los Angeles Lakers’ miracle man
It has always seemed as though D’Angelo Russell’s NBA career has fallen short of its potential. It’s unknown if his inconsistent play has led many teams to lose up on him, but he put on an incredible performance for the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night.
Russell responded to a potentially difficult game against Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks by going off for a 44-point performance, which he characterized as the product of public humiliation.
All that public humiliation has done is shape me into the killer you see before you. In his press conference following the game, Russell said, “I never lack confidence.”
Will teams now begin to see Russell in a different light?
Russell was the player of the hour on Friday, despite once being considered a contentious point guard who drew criticism for his alleged high risk and little reward when playing for the Los Angeles Lakers.
With his incredible 44 points (17 for 25 from the field and 9 for 12 from beyond the arc), nine assists, and six rebounds, he was able to completely dominate the Milwaukee Bucks and help the Los Angeles team secure a crucial victory.
DLo repeatedly silenced anyone who had questioned him by taking back the spotlight. With clutch shots that turned the tide of the game, such as a game-winning three-pointer and a 2+1 play, he took command of the action and skillfully sealed the victory.
