The real D’Angelo Russell on shattering the ridiculous 3-point record set by the Lakers
It looks like D’Angelo Russell has made his way into the gold and purple record books. Russell broke the Laker record for most threes made in a single season during the Los Angeles Lakers’ game against the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday. With 6:15 remaining in the first quarter, he accomplished the record by hitting a left-corner off a LeBron James kickout.
That was his 184th of the season and his first three of the evening for Russell. After that, he made three more three-pointers for a total of 14 points, which helped the Lakers win 101-94. (via Spectrum SportsNet)
D’Lo talked out about his record-breaking night after the game.
According to Lakers Nation, Russell remarked, “It just feels good to be a part of one of these types of deals.” Since this is one of the most respected franchises, I’m quite appreciative of the record.I’ll try to break it now.
Recently, D’Angelo Russell’s run of games
In terms of percentage, the left-handed guard is headed for his finest season shooting three points. Russell, who shoots 42.3% on 6.8 attempts per game, has emerged as the Lakers’ main outside threat. And after a pre-trade deadline season rife with trade rumors, he’s proving his skeptics wrong.
Russell has finished with double-digit points in 19 of the previous 20 games he has played, averaging 20.1 points, 6.9 assists, and 3.9 rebounds per game. On March 8, he led the Lakers to a narrow victory over the Milwaukee Bucks with 44 points. Russell presently leads the team in scoring with 18.0 points, 6.3 assists, and 3.0 rebounds per game this season.
With a 38-32 record, LA is ranked eighth in the West according to the standings. The Lakers are gaining ground on the Sacramento Kings, Phoenix Suns, and Dallas Mavericks (ranked ninth, seventh, and sixth, respectively), but the Golden State Warriors are pursuing them closely. Now, LA has won two straight and six of their last ten games.
