Tom Brady’s Ownership Purchase Of The Raiders

For a while now, Tom Brady, the former NFL quarterback, has been working to acquire a partial ownership in the Las Vegas Raiders. Following problems with the initial contract, Brady and the Raiders returned to the negotiating table to make the necessary adjustments to satisfy the NFL owners.

The revised appeared to indicate that Brady’s acquisition was getting closer to approval, but the owners did not cast a vote on his agreement to buy that minority interest in the Raiders at the NFL’s annual league meeting. However, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell emphasized that there was no delay or problem to this.

In speaking with the media, Goodell simply noted that the NFL goes through a very thorough process when approving owners, adding that Brady’s deal with the Raiders is making progress, via Jeremy Fowler of ESPN:

With Brady and his impending ownership transaction with the Raiders, there were still a few wrinkles to iron out. Brady’s dual status as a minority owner of the Raiders and a commentator for FOX’s NFL coverage has reportedly alarmed some people due to potential conflicts of interest.

What was more was his affiliation with BetMGM. Brady’s likeness and image have been used by the gaming corporation in several of its marketing campaigns, but that cannot continue if Brady becomes an owner. The advertising has to stop, but he may still own up to 5% of the business.

If things go as planned, the NFL owners may vote on Brady’s minority ownership of the Raiders when they get back together in May.

Aidan O’Connell has earned the right to compete for the Raiders quarterback position, according to Antonio Pierce.
Even though Tom Brady is the best quarterback of all time, the Raiders will not see him in uniform. Although head coach Antonio Pierce is certain Aidan O’Connell will be in the mix, it is unknown exactly who will start at quarterback when the squad takes the field the following season.

Pierce said that O’Connell’s play as a rookie last season, going 5-5 as a starter for the Raiders, earned him the right to compete for the job next season. Veteran Gardner Minshew was added, and the team seems likely to draft a quarterback as well, but no matter who else comes in, they will have to get past O’Connell to be the Raiders starter.
