Breaking news:Red Sox rookie cleanup hitter belts triple 114.4 mph, his ‘hardest’ hit

Boston — Wilyer Abreu, a rookie cleanup hitter for the Red Sox, smacked an RBI triple to right field on Tuesday in the fourth inning at a bat speed of 114.4 mph with two outs. “I believe that’s the baseball I’ve hit the hardest in my career,” Abreu remarked via Carlos Villoria Benítez, his translator.

Boston’s best hitter right now is Abreu. In 24 games (87 plate appearances), he is batting.316 with a.391 on-base percentage, a.526 slugging percentage, a.917 OPS, two home runs, eight doubles, one triple, 12 RBIs, 14 runs, 10 walks, 21 strikeouts, and four steals. “I’m attempting to utilize the entire field,” stated Abreu. And, of course, attempting to swing at the appropriate pitches. However, I am feeling great at the moment. In four of his last nine games, he has at least three hits, and in that time, he is batting.447 (17-for-38). In the last seven games and eight times this season, he has batted cleanup.

In reference to batting cleanup, Aubrey stated, “I’m grateful to Alex Cora… for trusting me in that position.” “I’m just trying to drive in some runs, like that’s what a cleanup hitter is supposed to do.” He is undoubtedly hitting home homers. He is the only rookie in Red Sox history to record RBIs in eight straight games (from April 18–27). In nine of his last ten games, he has had an RBI. “Seeing the growth from the beginning of the season to this point feels nice,” he remarked. “Obviously, seeing results feels fantastic.”
