Good news NFL Scout Reveals Green Bay Packers’ ‘Steal Of The Draft

The Green Bay Packers selected some extremely interesting prospects in the NFL Draft last week, but what they did with their fourth pick has an NFL scout salivating.

The Packers selected USC running back MarShawn Lloyd in the third round of the draft, and the aforementioned scout believes Green Bay may have hit gold.

“I think MarShawn Lloyd is the best running back in the draft this year,” the scout said. “Being able to get him in the third round is incredible value for the Packers. He’s one of the steals of the draft and will become a major impact piece for Green Bay.”

Lloyd is coming off of a 2023 campaign in which he rushed for 820 yards and nine touchdowns while averaging an incredible 7.1 yards per carry.

The 23-year-old began his collegiate career at South Carolina in 2020 but didn’t actually begin to get playing time until 2021, when he registered 228 yards and a score on the ground. The following year, Lloyd’s role grew, as he recorded 573 yards and nine touchdowns while logging 5.2 yards per attempt.

He transferred to USC in 2023 and enjoyed a breakout season.

The Packers signed Josh Jacobs in free agency and also brought back AJ Dillon, so Lloyd will certainly have to compete for touches next year. However, given how disappointing Dillon was this past season, it’s entirely possible that Lloyd could become Green Bay’s No. 2 running back in 2024.

Lloyd is a stocky halfback at 5-foot-9 and 220 pounds. He posted a decent 40-yard dash time at the Scouting Combine, running it in 4.46 seconds.

The Packers were a middle-of-the-pack team in rushing offense last year, but with Jacobs and Lloyd now in tow, Green Bay could become one of the better ground teams in football heading into 2024.

We’ll see if Lloyd is able to establish himself as a key member of the Packers’ offense come September.
