good.’”news: Williams, Oladapo go from ‘Civil War’ again

Derrick Ansley did not want to get in trouble. Evan Williams h/s Williams. Kitan Oladapo 2023 h/s Oladapo. So, the Green Bay Packers’ defensive passing-game coordinator decided to start his first meeting with the team’s rookie defensive backs by highlighting two of them — fourth-round draft pick Evan Williams, a safety from Oregon, and fifth-round pick Kitan Oladapo, a safety from Oregon State — in front of the entire group.

Coach Ansley was like, ‘Y’all going to be OK in this room? Is there still beef in that Civil War?’” Williams recounted after the meeting and before the first of two rookie-camp practices, the second of which took place Saturday.

“We were sitting next to each other,” Oladapo added with a smirk. “We were like, ‘Yeah, I think we’re good.’”

Indeed, despite being on opposite ends of an in-state rivalry that has been contested 127 times since 1894 — with the Ducks holding a 68-49-10 advantage over the Beavers as Oregon departs for the Big Ten Conference — there is no malice between Williams and Oladapo.
