Summer transfer coventry city manager makes move on manchester united starr …
Taking charge of the Sky Blues for a second time in 2017, Robins has led the club to promotion from League Two and League One as well as winning the EFL Trophy in 2017.
Coventry were also just minutes from playing in the Premier League after being beaten on penalties by Luton in last season’s play-off final at Wembley.
This season Robins’ side have attracted attention for reaching the semi-finals of the FA Cup where they so nearly pulled off the ultimate comeback against Manchester United after taking the game the penalties despite being 3-0 down.
Robins knows all about the Red Devils, having graduated from the club’s youth set-up before helping the club to glory in the FA Cup, European Cup Winner’ Cup and European Super Cup.
It’s those experiences combined which led former West Ham and Newcastle boss Pardew to tip him as a future candidate for the role.
Responding to a Man United fan called Adam’s thoughts on Erik ten Hag‘s role, Pardew told The Final Word: “I’ve got a gaffer for you, Adam. Are you ready?
“He’s not international, he’s not won the Dutch league or the French league but he’s an old player of yours.
“He’s done brilliantly for four seasons, he almost beat you in the semi-final – Mark Robins, there you go.
“I’m not his agent, by the way, I’m just saying!”
Responding to Pardew, Adam the Man United fan responded: “I saw the way they played last week and they had something that we’ve been missing at United.
“They had that grit, that bit between their teeth – in the boxing world they’d say they bite on the gumshield and have a no-die attitude. That’s what we need.
“Kieran McKenna at Ipswich too, why can’t we just go out there and give one of these young managers a chance.”
In response, Pardew said: “Hopefully Kieran and Ipswich will get promoted this week.
“They have a fantastic chance if they win midweek which is an important game for them but he’ll find himself in the Premier League and won’t leave Ipswich if that’s the case.
