Kim Mulkey has received a touching gift from her LSU players after the iconic coach made history in dominating fashion against North Carolina-Central over the weekend

LSU coach Kim Mulkey received a touching gift from her Tigers players after she made history in a dominating win.

The legendary college coach added her name to the history books as she became the fastest coach to 100 wins in LSU program history with a 131-44 win over North Carolina-Central. The Olympic gold medalist joined LSU in 2021 after over two decades in charge of Baylor and has proved to be an inspired appointment.

Mulkey’s latest victory took her record with LSU to 100-14 and claimed the Tigers ninth win of the season as their unbeaten streak continues. During the win, the No. 7 Tigers scored the second-most points on the second-most field goal makes (49) in a single game in the program history.

Following the win, LSU stars congratulated their coach as the players presented Mulkey with 100 roses to signify 100 wins at LSU. Mulkey appeared back on-court after the game to receive her gift which was carried to her by the players as the arena announcer paid tribute to Mulkey’s success.

“It’s just coaching good players,” Mulkey said after the win. “Throughout my career, I’ve been blessed to coach players that believe in our system and believe in what we do. And coming to LSU is not any different than when I was at Baylor for 20-plus years. Kids have to believe in you, and they have to let you coach them, and all those wins belong to them.”

After the win, Mulkey also lauded her coaching team who have helped her remain in the game for so long. Having a team of assistants who she trusts to go and scout the next opposition is one of the changes she has praised for her longevity at the top.
