Garrett Mitchell, famously known as YouTuber “Cleetus McFarland,” is set to make his Talladega debut this weekend, and he has Earnhardt by his side. In one of the snippets from their latest collab, Earnhardt showed McFarland a few tricks of the trade ahead of the latter’s track debut. One such element was an effective pit strategy, which Earnhardt demonstrated after the YouTuber-turned-racer asked for it. The JR Motorsports co-owner first got up to speed and then detailed he needed to be told in advance to stop so he could hug the bottom lane. Slowly taking his foot off the gas, Earnhardt detailed it was critical to not push the brakes until the car was straight. All four tires need to go in the asphalt together, or the driver risks spinning his car out. He then showed how to stop and go at a pit box towards the end of the pit road before telling McFarland, “I think you’re going to be fine.”
