Wolverhampton Wanderers are indeed in a deep relegation crisis in the 2025-26 Premier League season, sitting at the bottom of the table with just 8 points from 25 matches (1 win, 5 draws, 19 losses) and a goal difference of -32. Their recent 1-3 home defeat to Chelsea on February 7 highlighted defensive lapses and a lack of attacking potency, with their only goal in the game ending a month-long scoring drought in the league.

However, there are still ways they could potentially avoid relegation:

– Strengthen the squad quickly: Wolves were linked with several players in the January transfer window, including Kalvin Phillips (Man City), Adam Armstrong (Southampton), and Angel Gomes (Marseille). Securing these or other signings to address defensive fragility and attacking shortcomings could provide an immediate boost.

– Improve on-field discipline and form: Defensive errors, such as the careless fouls leading to penalties against Chelsea, have been costly. Manager Rob Edwards needs to instill greater composure and tactical organization. Wolves also have upcoming fixtures against teams in and around the relegation zone, like Tottenham Hotspur, Sunderland, and Fulham, which could be crucial for picking up points.

– Leverage home advantage: Molineux Stadium has historically been a stronghold for Wolves. Making it a difficult place for opponents to play and maximizing points from remaining home games could be key to survival.

It should be noted that according to the Premier League relegation rules, the bottom three teams are relegated to the Championship. Given Wolves’ current position and form, avoiding relegation will be extremely challenging, but football has seen surprise turnarounds before.
