COVENTRY – JUNE 2026
Speculation is growing that newly promoted Coventry City are weighing up a surprise move for Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus this summer, as reports link the Sky Blues with an ambitious swoop ahead of their Premier League return.
The rumour, circulating in football circles, claims Coventry’s hierarchy are looking at high-profile experienced additions to give them the best possible chance of staying up and Jesus has emerged as one of the names under discussion. The Brazilian forward, who has found regular starts hard to come by at times and has one year remaining on his contract, is said to be available for the right fee, though Arsenal would likely be looking for around £15–£20 million.
However, sources close to the situation stress that this remains pure speculation at this stage. The biggest stumbling block, should there be any truth to the talk, would be wages: Jesus earns significantly more than Coventry’s usual budget, meaning any deal would likely require heavy financial restructuring, a loan arrangement, or substantial wage contribution from Arsenal all of which are far from guaranteed.
No official enquiry has been confirmed by either club, and other sides including Everton and clubs in his native Brazil are also said to be monitoring his future. For now, it is nothing more than transfer gossip, but it is certainly one of the more eye-catching rumours doing the rounds as the window approaches.
