LONDON – West Ham United have thrown their hat into the ring for Arsenal’s highly-rated England youth international Myles Lewis-Skelly, as the east London club looks to bolster their midfield ranks with one of the country’s brightest young talents.
Hammers Eye Academy Gem
The 19-year-old, who can play across midfield and at left-back, has been identified by West Ham’s recruitment team as a target with huge potential. Having come through Arsenal’s famous Hale End academy, Lewis-Skelly signed a new long-term deal with the Gunners in June 2025, tying him to the club until 2030.
However, limited first-team opportunities this season – with most of his appearances coming in the Carabao Cup and FA Cup – have sparked interest from several Premier League sides, with West Ham now joining the hunt.
Competition for Places a Factor
Arsenal’s strong form in midfield, particularly with Riccardo Calafiori excelling in a versatile role, has restricted Lewis-Skelly’s game time in the league. The young starlet’s desire for regular minutes at senior level is understood to be a key factor behind the growing interest from other clubs.
West Ham are keen to add young, homegrown talent to their squad as part of their long-term planning, and see Lewis-Skelly as a player who could develop into a first-team regular at the London Stadium.
Arsenal Not Keen to Let Go Easily
Sources close to the north London club indicate that Arsenal view Lewis-Skelly as part of their future and are not looking to sell him cheaply. Any potential transfer would likely require a significant fee, or could involve a loan deal with a view to permanent transfer further down the line.
West Ham join the likes of Everton and Fulham in tracking the youngster’s progress, with the January transfer window now less than a year away – though talks could begin earlier as clubs plan their recruitment strategies.
